Simulation training gives surgeons the chance to build muscle memory in a low-risk setting, but the learning deepens when hands-on practice is paired with digital reinforcement.

The Miya Model app does exactly that. It turns a physical training session into a fuller learning loop, where procedural repetition on the model is supported by guided instruction and structured self-assessment.

The model itself is built for realism. It consists of a pelvic frame and multiple replaceable anatomic cartridges, each designed with specific surgical procedures in mind. Trainees work with lifelike skin and life-size organs, realistic cutting and puncturing tensions, and palpable surgical landmarks.

A pressurized vascular system simulates bleeding when technique falls short, and an inflatable bladder leaks water if it is damaged, giving immediate physical feedback on precision.

Mounted on a rotating stand with the top of the pelvis open, the model is designed to provide access and visibility. Supervising physicians and credentialing committees gain topical access and video capabilities, which supports closer guidance and review.

Additionally, the model is lightweight, so it travels, sets up, and stores with ease. Right now it supports practice across all major vaginal surgical procedures, with room to add more over time.

How the Miya Model App Deepens Training

The Miya app is where the model’s value compounds. It is offered free as a support tool, and it houses videos that walk through how to use the model alongside the technical steps for vaginal hysterectomy, retropubic slings, and transobturator slings. Trainees can watch a procedure broken down before they attempt it, then return to the footage between repetitions to refine their approach. Every instructional video undergoes peer review and has been featured in professionally published work, both domestically and abroad.

The app also brings assessment into the workflow. It contains questionnaires for vaginal hysterectomy, transobturator slings, and retropubic slings, all adapted from the ACOG Simulations Consortium.

Pairing tactile practice with these structured checks helps learners measure competency against a recognized standard rather than relying on impression alone. The library of instructional videos rounds out the experience, covering assembly, setup, and procedure-specific technique.

Together, the Miya Model and its companion app close the gap between watching, doing, and reviewing. Miyazaki Enterprises continues to advance how doctors are trained worldwide. Founder Douglas W.
